Kia is making the switch to electric vehicles a bit more fun with a unique accessory for its new EV4 buyers in Finland. The company has introduced a gasoline-scented air freshener shaped like a gas can designed to bring a touch of nostalgia to drivers missing the smell of traditional cars.

Announced on social media this campaign takes a lighthearted approach to promote Kia electric vehicles. The air freshener is meant to ease the transition for those who associate driving with the scent of fuel. Kia calls it a quick fix for “withdrawal symptoms” from gas-powered days.

This is no joke—it’s a real limited-edition product. Kia teamed up with Astara Auto Finland and scent designer Max Perttula to create the unusual fragrance. The air freshener blends a motor oil base with metallic notes jasmine and birch tar. Perttula says it smells like a car repair shop which might not appeal to everyone but adds a playful twist for EV4 owners.

The campaign goes beyond the air freshener. Kia is using humor to highlight the benefits of electric driving. In another post they showed two people outside joking that smoke signals are outdated. Instead they invite drivers to test the all-electric Kia EV4 for a clean smoke-free experience.

For US drivers who love Kia vehicles this quirky campaign shows the brand’s creative side. While the air freshener is launching in Finland the idea could catch on with American EV buyers looking for a nod to classic car culture. The EV4 itself promises modern tech and efficiency making it a strong choice for eco-conscious drivers.

Kia

As of October 2025 Kia is leaning into fun marketing to stand out in the electric vehicle market. This gasoline-scented accessory might just make new EV4 owners smile while reminding them of the past. It’s a small but clever way to bridge old-school driving with the future.
